Happily Ever After

Picture
Once upon a time, a baby girl was born in Baptist hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her father was a handsome man and her mother the fairest of them all. But life soon took a tragic turn when her parents divorced and her mother abandoned her, leaving her with her father who would raise her and her siblings. While he did his best to protect her, she was hurt at a very young age. But she had her arts to help her through, gifts inherited by both her mother and father. And it’s a good thing, because tragedy upon tragedy would happen in her life and it would seem as if she would be destroyed by the the evil forces that surrounded her.

After surviving an attempted abduction by a serial killer while in grade school, the little girl again learned that life was not a safe place. Her evil stepmother came into her life, making matters worse. As a teenager, it would seem things would repeat themselves, except this time she survived a kidnapping in Europe. Why? She never knew. She was just a child after al

Though she had dreams of being a writer and a mother – and being happy and healthy – it would seem that fate had other things in store for her. Illness overcame her and for awhile, she had given up hope. Years passed and she remained in the darkness of life, unable to surface except for brief periods of time. The only things that kept her going were her magic, her art, and her music.

One day, a fairy came to visit her and gave her a set of instructions that would put her on the road to success and lead her to happiness. She took a leap of faith and followed these instructions, and her life would never be the same.

She rode the iron horse to a new land, one that was completely unfamiliar to her. This land was unlike the one she came from – there were no magnolias and azaleas, there were no snowballs made of the sweetest of syrups, and there were no evil villains, at least for a time.

The iron horse had lead her to the Red Road, a path with many magical people who would teach her a new art – the art of happiness and the art of success. She was a good student and though she made some foolhardy mistakes along the way, she found her way to a new life full of possibilities. This new life brought her miracles instead of tragedy, joy instead of sadness, and light instead of darkness. Maybe it was there all along and she just couldn’t see it. It doesn’t matter now, it only matters that she made it through.

Yes, my life is a fairy tale, complete with tragedy, wonder, miracles, magic and joy, having reached goals beyond my wildest dreams. And though there are still evil villains lurking in the shadows trying their best to drag me back into darkness, they will not be successful. They are just characters in the fairy tale that is my life, after all, probably searching for their own happily ever after story.
